Wireless network software can be classified under two separate headings: management of a wireless network and for network security.

Microsoft Windows XP operating system also provides integrated wireless network software. These can be used for managing smaller networks at home and in offices. It has an intuitive easy to use interface to administer a wireless network.

Wireless network software usually incorporates security features in addition to management of network. Integrated security and management automatically reduces the conflicts which usually arise when implementing a network infrastructure. Sometimes there is a need to incorporate specific security features into a network which may not be available off the shelf. A network security consultant would be required to incorporate such security features into the network.

Wireless network software for large wireless networks are usually bundled with the hardware. Vendors such as Cisco have a range of products and software to meet the demands of a wireless network. Managing a network efficiently and cost effectively not only requires a well designed network, but also an intuitive user friendly interface and relevant software.
